The School of Applied Magics
The School of Applied Magics specializes in training wizards in using and testing magic theory in real world scenarios.
Theories of magic, whether old or new, should not be taken as absolute, but should be updated frequently for the sake of enlightenment.
The Hunt. Pushing boundaries is taught to be one’s main goal in this school. Choose not the safety of an academic setting where readily available source material is within arms reach to prove the simplest of theories. Instead, it’s there to set you on a path to the next discovery.
Bring back something new. At all costs.
Competitive Space. With a preference for discovery over proving established theories, the field is competitive and cutthroat among faculty and students alike. It is not uncommon to defend a discovery with one’s life, lest it be stolen and turned in as someone else’s find.
Rivalries are common to the point of factions being formed for specific research. Some rivalries go back generations.
All Part of the Job. Conducting research in harsh environments, developing magic for frequent, real world use, self-defense and survival from arcane dangers, and preserving your findings are part of the core training at the school.
