Feline Agility. Rex can jump a number of feet equal to their movement speed. If Rex uses their movement to jump into the air, they immediately start falling, but take no falling damage from 30 ft.

Impact From the Heavens. If Rex jumps 15 ft before making a thunder cracking spiked greatclub attack against a target, that target takes an additional 1d8 bludgeoning damage. If he jumps 30 ft, then the target takes an additional 2d8 bludgeoning damage.

Guts. Rex has learned a technique called guts that harnesses one’s own spiritual energy and manifests it in many forms, similar to magic. Rex uses guts to manifest their spiritual energy as thunder and lightning and transfers it through their weapon attacks, making them more lethal.

Actions

Multiattack. Rex makes two thunder cracking spiked greatclub or rapid lightning hammer swing attacks, or one of each.

Thunder Cracking Spiked Greatclub. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage and 6 (2d6) thunder damage. If two attacks hit the same target, they must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be pushed 15 ft away from Rex and be deafened until the end of their next turn. On a success, there is no effect.

Rapid Lightning Hammer Swing. Rex generates lightning with a swing of his greatclub, sending bolts of lightning as well as the force of his swing at nearby enemies. Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage and 6 (2d6) lightning damage.

Crushing Nirvana From the Heavens (Recharge 5-6). Rex jumps 30 ft into the air, imbues his greatclub with power from the heavens and brings it crashing down on one target within 30 ft. The target must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 3d8 bludgeoning damage, 2d6 lightning damage, 2d6 thunder damage, and be stunned until the end of their next turn. On a success, they take half damage and are not stunned. Additionally, all targets within a 30 ft radius of the first target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 2d6 lightning damage and 2d6 thunder damage, and become blinded until the end of their next turn. On a success, targets take half damage and are not blinded.

Bonus Actions

Lightning Smite. After a successful melee or ranged weapon attack against a target, they take an additional 2d8 lightning damage and must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be blinded until the end of their next turn. On a success, there is no effect.

Reactions

Leaving Paradise Flash (3/day). When an attack hits or misses Rex, he can teleport to an unoccupied space within 30 ft and all targets within a 15 ft radius of Rex must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, before or after Rex teleports (your choice), or take 2d6 thunder damage and be deafened until the end of their next turn. On a success, targets take half damage and are not deafened.

Description

Rex Tri-Star is a stout, kind, anxious, but ferocious feline warrior that left his family’s mercenary business to become an adventurer!

Rex’s house and family name is well-known in the mercenary business. However, out of twelve siblings, Rex was always the runt of the litter and never felt like he fit into that line of work. All of his siblings took to the profession easily and only wished to carry on the family tradition with pride and honor, seeking the most dangerous jobs to test their skills and mettle, while Rex just wanted to explore the world and see what it has to offer instead of pursuing endless combat and conflict.

His late grandfather told him stories of his many wild adventures while traveling the world as a mercenary. The places he had seen, the food he ate, the monsters he fought, the treasures he found, and the friends he made. However, he was mostly known for being a fierce warrior in his youth who struck fear into the hearts of those who crossed his path and left a trail of blood wherever he went. But to Rex, he was the kindest soul around. Rex took after his grandfather but didn’t have any interest in continuing the family name in the mercenary business.

Inspired by those stories, he took up his grandfather’s old armor and halberd and decided to put all the harsh martial training he endured while growing up to good use. Then, he left home to become an adventurer as well.

History

Before Rex Tri-Star left home to become an adventurer, inspired by his grandfather’s adventure stories, he was part of his family’s mercenary business and was being trained in their style of martial combat for which they were known.

The Tri-Star family has developed many forms of martial arts involving armed and unarmed combat. However, each one emphasizes two main principles: complete obliteration and domination of one’s opponents.

They have mastered channeling their spiritual energy for combat, using three principles: wrath, fury, and guts. Wrath manifests spiritual energy externally. Fury internalizes it in the body. Guts transfers it to the physical world. These teachings, passed down in the Tri-Star family for generations, enhance efficiency and lethality in combat.

Rex, at this time of his life, was finishing his training in the Tri-Star style of martial arts in order to live up to the family’s mercenary name. However, after his training was complete, he decided to pursue his own plans instead.

Secretly, Rex had just left home, but not before breaking into his family’s vault and taking his grandfather’s old armor, halberd, and adventure journals. He decided that the mercenary life wasn’t for him and was ready to embark on an adventure, just like the ones his grandfather had told him about while he was growing up. This was day one of his fantasized grand adventure!
