Casting Time: 1 Action
Range/Area: 30 ft
Components: S, M*
Duration: 1 hour (concentration)
Classes: Wizard
*A folded paper animal.
You cast a bolt of energy at one inanimate, non-magical object no larger than a 5 ft cube that isn’t part of a larger object within 30 ft, and turn it into a creature made of folded paper.
On each of your turns or until the spell ends, you can transform another object into a paper creature, but the previous one reverts back to its original form.
If the object is being held by a creature, the creature must make a successful Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the object they’re holding transforms into a paper creature. On a successful save, the spell doesn’t take effect.
Little Creatures. The object takes the form of a tiny or small Beast made of paper with a CR rating of 1 or lower. It uses that creature’s stat block, but can only move, take the dodge action, or use its reaction.
The paper creature behaves like its actual living counterpart.
Tracking. While it’s within 60 ft, you always know its location and can control it. If it travels beyond 60 ft, you lose control of it and it wanders off on its own until the spell ends, reverting back to its original form.
Backtrack. You can command it to return to any of its last known locations in the past 14 days.
Self-Preservation. The paper creature is immune to damage. If attacked, the attacker must make a successful Intelligence saving throw (using your spell DC) or become stunned. The stun lasts until the end of the attacker’s next turn. On a successful save, it’s not stunned but its speed is reduced to 0 until the end of its next turn.
