Fold-Limb (5E Magic Item)

Fold-Limb

Wondrous Item, Uncommon

A harness that wraps around your upper body, and attached to it is a mechanical limb. The limb acts as an additional functional arm that folds into itself, hiding behind your back, or extends when in use. You can only wear one fold-limb at a time and cannot equip armor while wearing it.

Different fold-limbs have different functions. Acquiring a fold-limb comes with one of the following functions:

  • Equip a one-handed weapon to the fold-limb’s arm. As bonus action, make one weapon attack with it, adding your proficiency bonus to the attack roll.
  • Equip a one-handed weapon to the fold-limb’s arm. If an attack hits or misses you, as a reaction, make one weapon attack with that weapon, adding your proficiency bonus to the attack roll, against the attacker if they are within range.
  • Equip a shield to the fold-limb. While a shield is equipped to the fold-limb, treat it as if you have proficiency with shields.
  • As a bonus action, cast one cantrip from your known spellcasting spell list.
  • As a bonus action, double your proficiency bonus for your next spell attack roll (bonuses do not stack).
  • As a bonus action, add +2 to the spell save DC for the next spell you cast (bonuses do not stack).
  • If an attack hits or misses you, as a reaction, cast a cantrip from your known spellcasting spell list against the attacker.
  • Add double your proficiency bonus when making an Investigation ability check.
  • Add double your proficiency bonus when making a Strength ability check.
  • Add double your proficiency bonus when using artisan’s tools.
  • Add double your proficiency bonus when using thieves’ tools.
